DMA Day at the Capitol

Join your fellow DMA advocates in Washington, D.C. for the annual DMA Day at the Capitol event to urge the passage of the CDM credential and to promote DMA and the work DMA members do. The next DMA Day at the Capitol is scheduled for the end of February, 2009.

The DMA Day at the Capitol is designed to better educate Members of Congress about the important services that DMA members offer, particularly to vulnerable Americans, and the initiatives being undertaken by DMA to secure a higher level of training and credentialing through the CDM. The DMA Day at the Capitol event offers an extraordinary opportunity to visit with elected Representatives and Senators to promote DMA and your profession. Plus, during the Day at the Capitol event, there will be an opportunity to gain additional training in legislative advocacy.

Previous Day at the Capitol events have been jam-packed with advocacy activities that we believe will have a long-term significant impact on the recognition of DMA in Washington. DMA spokespersons, state leaders and other DMA members came to Washington for two full days of good old-fashioned lobbying activities coordinated through DMA’s government affairs specialists. DMA members were part of 4-5 member teams which sought to visit all of the Representatives and the Senators for each member of team during the two-day period.

In 2009, another enthusiastic group of DMA representatives will be needed to make this event successful. We want to swarm Capitol Hill with a considerable presence so that Congressmen, Congresswomen and staff will know DMA is in town. We also want to get a good cross section of representation from across the country so we hope that every state will send at least one representative. It will be a terrific learning experience for all DMA leaders!
