CA DMA has arranged a two day workshop to help Dietary Managers prepare for the Dietary Managers exam. Pam Brummit, MA, RD, LD, with 19 years experience teaching the Dietary Managers course will cover ten sections of the exam.
Greetings,
As president or contact person of your state Dietary Manager Association, I am seeking your assistance in notifying your state membership of this free continuing education opportunity. Researchers at CSU have developed and are now piloting a food safety training web module Listeria Control and Safe Food Training for Dietary Managers. Will you please forward the announcement pasted below to your membership either via listserv distribution and/or posting to your association website? The one hour training is free and has been approved for 1CEU by the Certifying Board for Dietary Managers (CBDM) until August, 2010. This research project has been approved by the Research Integrity and Compliance Office (RICO) at Colorado State University.
Thank you in advance for your assistance. I would appreciate an email reply if you are able to help. I will be happy to provide any additional information you may need.
Sincerely,
Mary Schroeder

The Colleen Allen Ham Certification Scholarship
OBJECTIVE: The SCDMA will award annual scholarships to non-certified, South Carolina Dietary Managers Association members who wish to sit for the National Certification exam. The scholarships will be awarded to individuals who are currently working in the food service industry. The recipient must be enrolled as a DMA student or associate member in good standing and provide proof of eligibility to sit for the National Certification exam. This would include proof of successful completion of a DMA approved course or program, either on-site or correspondence.
PROCEDURES: The Scholarship/Education Committee shall decide upon the selection of the number of award recipients. The recommendations put forth from that committee will be reviewed and approved by a majority of the SCDMA Board of Directors, in accordance with the policies approved for the administration of the scholarship. The National Certification exam is offered twice per year in April and October. The deadline for the exam application is December 1st or June 1st . The Scholarship Committee should receive applications at these times to ensure an adequate review period before the January and July SCDMA Board meeting. The number of scholarships will be awarded based on the availability of funds and the Committee's review of the applications.
The amount of the scholarship will equal the current fee for the exam as established by the National DMA office. If the recipient does not pass the exam, he is not eligible to reapply for the scholarship.
Upon the selection of the scholarship recipient(s), the SCDMA board will issue a check to the recipient(s). It is the recipient's responsibility to apply for and pay for the exam with this scholarship money. The SCDMA is not responsible for recipients who do not follow through with the exam process. The recipients will be recognized in the SCDMA newsletter, "The Wren Notes" and at the Fall and Spring state meeting.
The SCDMA Board reserves the right to deny scholarship funding if the applicant cannot provide proof of eligibility to sit for the exam.
